“Seek Respect, Not Attention. It Lasts Longer”

“Seek respect, not attention. It lasts longer”

I feel like while many are admired not all are respected but after a while we tend to forget them like they were yesterday’s news because that is exactly what they are. Nothing good ever comes out of being an attention seeker. I am not saying that it is not bad that you attract attention but it is the way that you go about it.

Seek respect. Respect is defined as “a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.” Admired for their ability, their qualities or achievements.

Having attention can last a small period of time but being admired by someone and held in a high position is on a completely different level. Take Obama and Donald trump for one.

Obama is admired by many. He is intelligent, tried hard within the time that he had as the president to do well by his people and represented a nation of Unity. On the other hand we have the always loud and obnoxious Donald trump who basically hates anyone who is not white, fails at pretty much everything he does and all he ever seems to do is create loud noise wherever he goes. Two different people of our era yet one is respected while the other is just someone who wants the attention.

If we think about these two men, who do you think people will not only remember longer and will be imbedded into people’s minds in a more positive light?

One can only hope that rather than just gaining people’s attention for a short span to time you would gain their admiration.
